Meet Our Founder
"In an industry with insane competition, I found my niche."
-Jenny Strebe
There are an immeasurable number of hairstylists in this world, all with differing degrees of hustle. Early in my career I decided to take a laser focus approach to where my footsteps travel and navigate my way towards my end goal whilst keeping my feet grounded in my beliefs. My toolbox, my passion and my vision are the fuel to make sure my looking glass captures opportunity, drives me towards progress and makes sure I am authentic and progressive in a very fluid world. Since I was a little girl, I have always gazed up at the clouds, knowing the sky is not the limit, perhaps it is just the beginning.

I’ve always had a curious interest in hair styling much beyond putting ponytails on Barbie dolls and practicing on friends.
Being raised in the small town of Walla Walla, WA the hundreds of fast-paced careers that exist isn’t exactly obvious at a young age. As I perfected my stylist skills I became drawn to the before and after excitement of clients, the creative skills I could apply to produce amazing results and discovered a true passion for exceeding expectations and delivering really special results. 18 years ago I made a personal mission to carve my own stylist career path, one that goes beyond the chair, a profession that blends my passion for inspired hair with the balanced life I live.
With $1200 I packed my bags, moved to Portland, enrolled in cosmetology school and worked part-time at a grocery store to pay for my tuition.
I entered every competition that came my way, thereby sharpening my skills from trendy haircuts to editorial and bridal styles. I landed several interviews, purchased my first suit and had endless pep talks with the mirror knowing it takes a million small steps to reach each milestone. In 2002 I was living in Phoenix with five girls in a 2-bedroom apartment and quickly moving up the ranks. After two years I was promoted to salon educational director and then soon after an art team leader.
After years of being an educator in the Phoenix salon I realized my skills had outlasted the opportunity and it was time to keep growing and cast a wider net. Knowing beauty and fashion is global and wanting to best understand the European market, I moved to Europe with a list of professional and personal goals I wished to accomplish. I spent several years traveling to some of the top cities and working alongside super talented and diverse stylists within the Toni & Guy network. This time abroad was invaluable as it really provided a pulse on the global culture and synergies across hair stylists and products.
In 2011 I was back in Arizona, married, renting a booth and soon to be a mom. After having my daughter Magnolia, and having my scheduled life totally disrupted [in a great way!] I spent many sleepless nights organizing and writing.
Confessions of a Hairstylist, launched in 2012, was an instant hit blog – filled with tips and tricks for hairstylists everywhere.
I received so much feedback and requests my sharing to-do list grew exponentially and soon I had compiled hundreds of tutorials and quickly evolved into an educator with a passion to share for everyone’s benefit.
Soon, I had amassed a significant following on Instagram, developed a YouTube channel with hundreds of videos and authored three books which are sold in 17 countries. To think my professional scope made it to Nordstrom, Barnes & Noble, Urban Outfitters, and Target and keeps growing is just humbling! Meanwhile, in 2013 my son Indy was born and instantly my heart grew while my free time did not!
